Barbara Frank is known for her allegorical imagery. Her paintings and drawings catalog dreams, experiences, and her study of how the brain works. She is the recipient of The Franz and Virginia Bader Fund Award (2016), The MacDowell Colony resident fellowships, and a Cafritz Foundation Resident Fellowship to the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts. Her work has been exhibited in galleries and museums nationally and is included in corporate and private collections. The Archives of American Art has collected her papers for her important role in the feminist art movement of the 1970s and 1980s.
